Gayle Olson is director of Shelburne Falls Yoga and has been teaching in the village since 1992.

She began exploring Yoga in high school and college. Then after a short-lived stint as an organic farmer, she realized her back would be happier being a yoga teacher, so she went off to India in 1991 to study Yoga and Vipassana Meditation. Since then Gayle has had the great fortune to study with senior teachers from around the world in the traditions of Iyengar, Anusara, Ashtanga Vinyasa, and most recently Agama (chakra) Yoga. Her primary teachers have been Richard Freeman, Barbara Benagh, John Friend and Marilyn Hart.

Gayle invites students to explore their body with a sense of wonder and deep respect. She teaches a variety of classes, reflecting her value that there are many paths to explore and many ways to grow in Yoga. She loves the joyful flow of Vinyasa, the attentiveness to subtle alignment in Iyengar and Anusara, and the deeper meditative focus in Chakra Yoga.
