Pilates and Core

Monday 12:00-1:00 p.m. Jody Fontaine

In this class the primary focus will be on strengthening the central core and using the abdominal muscles to control the movements. Pilates works to stretch and lengthen the muscles allowing the body to become stronger and firmer without building bulk. It's a system that works in addition to your current exercise routine. A regular routine will gradually improve coordination, body awareness, alignment and balance. It increases strength and flexibility and reduces risk of injury or strain. In addition to traditional Pilates mat exercises, we will be using props such as bands, stability balls and Pilates rings to enhance core strength.

Kripalu Yoga

Monday 8:30-10:00 a.m. Kate Pousont

Sinking deeply into postures and sensations, this class will encourage personal experience of yoga through movement and meditation. This class will use posture flows to warm-up the body, and the sustaining of postures to build strength, flexibility, and self-awareness. Suitable for all-levels.

Gentle Yoga

Friday 8:30-10:00 a.m. Kate Pousont

This class is for anyone who wants to increase flexibility, balance, strength and self-awareness. A major difference between "just stretching" and yoga is the union of mind and body in movement, and the awareness of breath in the yoga postures. Exploring the foundation of yoga positions, this class will enrich a personal experience of movement, sensation, and meditation. By heightening an awareness of the body and relaxing into the sensations of holding a yoga pose, the mind can quiet, confidence can increase, and strength can grow. This class is designed for all levels wishing to broaden and deepen their practice.
